Week of April 25 Morning Show Ratings: GMA Is No. 1 in Total Viewers, Wins A25-54 Demo on Monday and Friday

Good Morning America averaged the most viewers on morning TV this past week, while Today attracted the most adults 25-54.

However, the three major English language national morning shows—GMA, Today and CBS Mornings—continue to lose linear viewers on an annual basis.

According to live-plus-same-day data from Nielsen, GMA averaged nearly 3.2 million total viewers for the week of April 25. While more than NBC and CBS, it’s still a  -3% decline from the previous week (April 18) and a -3% decline from the year-ago week (April 26, 2021).


GMA also averaged 756,000 viewers from the key A25-54 demo this past week, second-most on morning TV. GMA is the only morning show to post growth in the A25-54 measurement from the prior week (+3%), and ranked No. 1 in the demo on Monday and Friday. However, the broadcast fall short to NBC in the A25-54 demo for the full week—and was -11% in the measurement vs. the year-ago week.

Speaking of NBC, Today show averaged 782,000 adults 25-54 this past week. That’s -6% from what the show averaged in the demo the prior week—and -15% from what it averaged during the year-ago week.  Despite the decline, Today has now finished No. 1 in the mornings among adults 25-54 for 342 out of the last 349 weeks. The NBC morning show also averaged 2.94 million total viewers for the week, second-most on morning TV, -3% from the previous week and -8% from the year-ago week.

CBS Mornings averaged 2.41 million total viewers for the week of April 25, down -5% from the prior week, and -13% from the year-ago week. CBS Mornings also averaged a paltry 474,000 adults 25-54, which is -8% from the prior week and -21% from the year-ago week.
