Weather Channel Schedules Special Reports In Wake of Tornado Destruction

The Weather Channel has slated three special reports this week, covering the tornadoes and storms that have devastated parts of the Southeast U.S.

From Weather Channel:

Monday, May 2nd at 8pm ET: “Inside the Epic Outbreak”

A special report by The Weather Channel on the horrific late April tornado outbreak in the southern U.S. Dozens were killed, but early warnings saved many, many, more.

Wednesday, May 4th at 8pm ET: “Dateline NBC” with Brian Williams (this is a re-air from Friday’s program on NBC)

NBC News anchor Brian Williams reports from the site of the late April deadly twister outbreak.

Friday, May 6th at 8pm ET: “Weather Caught on Camera: Late April Outbreak”

A collection of amazing footage from the April tornado outbreak, hosted by The Weather Channel On-Camera Meteorologist Mike Bettes.

With the nasty weather, Weather Channel surged in the ratings. On Wednesday evening, Weather placed a close second in the adults 25-54 demo behind Fox News Channel, and a close third in total viewers behind FNC and MSNBC, drawing over a million people. In total day it placed second overall in both categories.

Elsewhere, Discovery Channel says that crews from it’s hit show “Storm Chasers” have been following he storms, and footage from those encounters will run during the upcoming season.
