While we will obviously miss Katie, a friend and co-worker around here for the last 15 years, I think Meredith is quite literally the best choice in the known world for this job. As a viewer of hers since her arrival at WCBS-TV here in New York as a reporter years ago (and a fan of her work on the CBS News magazine program ‘West 57th’), I have long admired her smarts, wit, class and palpable humanity. Meredith is a huge talent, at the very top of her game, and she is as thrilled to be here as this network is to have her.”
