This afternoon, the staff of World News Tonight gathered to commemorate Elizabeth Vargas‘ last evening newscast. They remembered everything she’s contributed to the broadcast — “from launching the webcast in January to leading the show in the difficult days after Bob’s accident,” an insider says. “Following a lengthy and very loud round of applause, Elizabeth thanked everyone and said she looked forward to working with them in the future, just as soon as she was back from maternity leave. She then cut into a huge ice cream cake and chatted with all of the staffers.”
