U.S. Forces Detain CBS News Stringer For “Alleged Insurgent Activity”

A CBS News stringer who was wounded earlier this week by U.S. forces has been detained for “alleged insurgent activity.” According to a statement from the US military, “there is probable cause to believe that the detainee poses and imperative threat to coalition forces. He is currently detained…and will be processed as any other security detainee.”

“The cameraman was photographing a crowd facing American soldiers when a man waved an assault rifle at the troops,” the AP reported earlier this week. “Captain Mark Walter says soldiers mistook Abdul Amir Younis Hussein’s camera for a gun and accidentally shot him in the hip. He is expected to recover. The man with the weapon was killed.”
