Tucker Carlson — Not Your Libertarian Presidential Candidate

By SteveK

Rumors have been swirling since last week about a possible run by MSNBC senior campaign correspondent Tucker Carlson as the Libertarian candidate in the 2008 presidential election.

The New York Times Opinionator blog raised the idea after it appeared his name was being floated as a possible candidate.

ABC News correspondent Jake Tapper (a “a good friend” of Carlson) denied the possibility on his blog on Friday.

Carlson officially shot down the rumors this morning. “I cannot accept the nomination of my party,” he told TVNewser. “If asked, I will not serve.”

The speculation actually ended on Sunday — former Rep. Bob Barr was picked as the party’s nominee on Sunday.
