Top Cable News Shows in May Were…

Fox News Channel has claimed the top 14 cable news programs in total viewers for 15 consecutive months, dating back to March 2014.  FNC also claimed eight out of the Top 10 programs in the key A25-54 demo for May 2015.

The O’Reilly Factor has been No. 1 in the demo for 174 consecutive months, going back to December 2000. It’s so popular that the repeat at 11 p.m. ranks No. 9 in the demo, despite airing only three hours after the original broadcast averages 2.4 million total viewers.

Bill O’Reilly is up +41 percent in the demo compared to the same month last year, while all FNC prime time shows are also up double digits among A25-54 viewers. On the record is up +25 percent, The Kelly File is up +58 percent and Hannity is up +56 percent. Meanwhile, Special Report is the only hard news program among the Top 5 in total viewers.

CNN Tonight cracks the Top 5 in total viewers, coming in No. 4. The Don Lemon-hosted program is also CNN’s highest-rated show in the demo, finishing No. 15 as the most watched non-FNC show in cable news. With a big month for breaking news, CNN Tonight is up an astonishing +127 percent in the demo vs. May 2014. Anderson Cooper 360 finished No. 6 in viewers and No. 16 in the demo.

The Rachel Maddow Show is MSNBC’s most-watched program in both categories, finishing No. 17 in viewers and No. 22 in the demo. Nancy Grace is HLN’s top-rated show in viewers, finishing No. 42. Among the demo, Morning Express with Robin Meade edges Graces, with the HLN shows finishing No. 38 and No. 41 respectively.

Shark Tank is CNBC’s highest-rated show in the demo at No. 18, while FBN’s top show is Stossel at No. 78.
