Tom Brokaw on Brian Williams: ‘His Future Is Up to Brian and NBC News’

Former “NBC Nightly News” anchor Tom Brokaw has denied calling for the firing of Brian Williams. A New York Post report this morning described Brokaw as “furious” over Williams’ misremembered story of being aboard a helicopter that was hit by an RPG over Iraq in 2003:

“Brokaw wants Williams’ head on a platter,” an NBC source said. “He is making a lot of noise at NBC that a lesser journalist or producer would have been immediately fired or suspended for a false report.”

Brokaw dismissed that report in an email to the Huffington Post, saying “I have neither demanded nor suggested Brian be fired. His future is up to Brian and NBC News executives.”
