Today Show Celebrates Win with BBQ

By Chris Ariens

The Today show celebrated its second win over GMA in four weeks in the coveted A25-54 demo with lots of BBQ from Virgil’s in the 30 Rock offices today. Insiders tell us the gathering included NBC News President Deborah Turness and Today ep Don Nash. Turness thanked the staff for their hard work saying the show has “real momentum” and feels “vibrant.”

She also thanked the staff for pulling off Matt Lauer’s 5-day Red Nose Day charity bike ride. Turness even joined Lauer for 10 miles of the ride yesterday. (We’re sure Virgil’s BBQ is just what Matt was looking for after a 226-mile bike ride.)

Nash, who knows what it’s like to have a first place show, and — for the last three years — to be in second place, calls the morning show ratings war “a marathon, not a sprint.” He also predicted “we’ll get there.”
