Today Names New Senior Producer

By SteveK

TVNewser has obtained an email from Today show EP Jim Bell announcing the hiring of Noah Kotch as a new senior producer on the show.

Kotch is a former member of ABC’s morning show, Good Morning America, and most recently was an SP for digital media at ABC.

Kotch essentially replaces Noah Oppenheim, who left the network in June to take a role with Reveille Entertainment. Oppenheim served as SP of the 7am hour; Bell writes Kotch’s, “focus will be on, but not limited to, the 7am hour.”

I am pleased to announce that Noah Kotch is joining us at TODAY as a Senior Producer. (yes, his name is Noah). His focus will be on, but not limited to, the 7am hour. As we’ve seen, the ability to move segments around is a great strength for us and that flexibility will continue to benefit the show.

Noah started in TV as a researcher and a tape producer at CNN’s Atlanta headquarters. He next joined ABC in 1999 as a writer and later became the head writer for Peter Jennings at World News Tonight, traveling extensively with him in the period following 9/11. He started at Good Morning America in 2003 as a senior producer and spent three years overseeing the execution of live interviews and the show script. He then spent a year and a half on the senior team that successfully relaunched Nightline and most recently, he was a senior producer in the ABC News Digital Media Group.

Noah hails from North Carolina and graduated from Yale, where he majored in Latin and was editor in chief of the Yale Daily News. He lives in Manhattan with his wife Gena, a producer for 20/20.

He begins this Monday August 18th so please join me in welcoming Noah aboard.
