‘Today’ Anchors Discuss ‘Tumultuous Day’ During Christmas Tree Lighting

TodayTreeGrandJuryNBC’s “Christmas in Rockefeller Center” was the most-watched program on TV last night, with 9.38 million viewers tuning in, and a 5.8 Household rating. The show came in second to “Survivor” in the A18-49 demo in the 8pmET hour.

As the show was hosted by “Today” show anchors Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker and Natalie Morales, the news of the day was not overlooked. “It’s been a bit of an emotional and even tumultuous day here in New York City,” said Lauer. “It’s been a day of protests, in some cases even close to where we’re broadcasting tonight because of a grand jury decision earlier in the day,” Guthrie added.

“So even as we do welcome the holiday season, we have to say, we hope it will be a healthy, a joyous and a peaceful holiday season for everyone,” added Lauer.
