As the cable nets gear up for today’s decision by the Fed, you may have noticed the two business channels have added countdown clocks. But they’re not counting down to the same time. CNBC’s is set to 2pmET, while FBN’s is set to 2:15pmET. Insiders tell us the Fed does not want the media to count down specifically to 2:15pm because the decision can be handed down anytime after 2pm. In fact, having been in a control room for a few of these announcements, it could be as early as 2:13 or even as late as 2:18.
