This Week “Finally Getting Some Traction”

By Brian

“More Americans are spending part of their Sundays in front of the TV watching talking heads talk about the news,” Washingtonian’s Harry Jaffe writes. “An average 12.7 million viewers watched the five main Sunday talk shows in February, up from 12.1 million in February 2005.”

ABC’s This Week With George Stephanopoulos seems to be a beneficiary. The program’s February sweeps ratings rose 5 percent over last year in total viewers, and 29 percent in the 25-54 demo.

EP Kathy O’Hearn tells Jaffe: “We have more of a mix. It’s more modern than just interviews. We are finally getting some traction.”

After the jump, check out ABC’s postcard to affiliates touting This Week’s best Feb. sweep in three years…
