The Top Cable News Shows in April Were…

Fox News had the top 14 cable news programs in total viewers and the top eight in the key A25-54 demographic for the month of April, 2014. “The O’Reilly Factor” was number one in both total and demo viewers, averaging 2,476,000 and 412,000, respectively. “The Kelly File” was second in total and demo viewers, with 1,988,000 and 370,000, respectively. “The Five,” “Special Report with Bret Baier,” and “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren” rounded out the top five cable news shows’ list for total viewers.

MSNBC’s highest-rated show was “The Rachel Maddow Show,” which placed 15th overall in total viewers and eleventh overall in the demo. Maddow’s program averaged 884,000 total viewers and 210,000 demo viewers.

CNBC broke into the top ten among A25-54 viewers with “Shark Tank,” which led the network in both total viewers and the demo for the month. Reruns of the ABC program averaged 498,000 total viewers and 236,000 A25-54 viewers, placing 26th overall among total viewers and ninth overall in the demo.

Anderson Cooper 360″ was the top CNN program in total viewers and the demo, placing 19th and 10th, respectively. The show averaged 621,000 total viewers and 221,000 A25-54 viewers in April. New CNN host Michael Smerconish’s show, “Smerconish,” cracked the top 15 in the demo.

For HLN, “Forensic Files” led in both total and demo viewers with 328,000 and 146,000 viewers, respectively, ranking 40th and 30th overall.

The top-rated show on Fox Business in total viewers was “Imus in the Morning.” “Stossel” led the way in the demo for FBN.
