The Morning Ticker: Al Jazeera, Profits, Martin

  • The London Evening Standard reports that staffers in Al Jazeera’s London office are being forced to relocate to Doha, Qatar, or lose their jobs. “They had thought that they would be moving from Knightsbridge to The Shard — not the desert.”

  • SNL Kagan has posted its annual look at media company revenues and profits. Winners include Disney, which remains number one, Time Warner and Thomson Reuters. News Corp., Discovery Communications and McGraw Hill were down.

  • The National Association of Black Journalists has named Roland Martin its “journalist of the year.” Martin will be ending his run at CNN in a few weeks, but also hosts “Washington Watch” on TV One and contributes to a number of other media outlets.
