  • Discovery Channel founder John Hendricks will retire as Chairman of the Board at the company’s annual meeting in May. Hendricks, 61, was CEO of Discovery Channel from its launch, June 17, 1985, until he stepped down in 2004. He says he plans to spend the next few years traveling the planet “and discovering the questions and mysteries that intrigue us all.”

  • Tribune Digital Ventures has launched Newsbeat, a mobile news app that provides audio streaming of roughly 7,000 stories each day from hundreds of newspapers. Built for commuters, users can set the distance between home and the office to hear their most preferred news stories.

  • “Meet the Press” has launched a new digital interview series called “Meet the Press Express.” Hosted by David Gregory, the weekly videos feature reporters from other news organizations talking about what’s driving the political agenda that week.
