Following up on Dennis Swanson‘s promotion to president of station operations for Fox Television Stations Group.

> “Swanson will focus on local news for the stations group, including Fox’s characteristic morning shows,” Variety says. “That could mean standardizing the look and feel of Fox newscasts, and sharing of talent between local stations and Fox News Channel.”

> “Among the many credits Mr. Swanson has accrued during his career was a decision to hire Oprah Winfrey for a morning talk show when he led ABC’s station in Chicago in the 1980’s,” the New York Times says.
> “You’d better check pretty carefully as to whether Swanson is going to be in the news loop,” a tipster says. “The word “operations” has key signaificance at Fox News. It means “not editorial”. of Swanson is “operational”, he is not editorial.”
