Once again, it was NBC’s Meet the Press with Chuck Todd that finished No. 1 among the Sunday shows.
According to Nielsen live-plus-same-day data for Sunday, Nov. 24, MTP averaged 3.33 million total viewers, topping ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos by +17% (+473,000) and CBS’ Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan by +13% (+384,000) in average total viewers.
MTP was also No.1 among viewers from the key A25-54 demo (709,000 viewers), beating ABC by +12% (+75,000) and beating CBS by +26% (+148,000).
An additional 1.08 million total viewers and 295,000 A25-54 viewers watched MTP through rebroadcasts on NBC and MSNBC.
Meet the Press is the only Sunday public affairs program up (+9,000) among total viewers versus the prior year season to date.
CBS’ Face the Nation (1/2-hour edition) averaged 2.95 million total viewers but just 561,000 A25-54 viewers on Nov. 24. The million total viewers is good for second place, but the A25-54 total is less than stellar, third-most behind NBC and ABC.
The aforementioned ABC’s This Week took second place in the demo for the third broadcast in a row. The Nov. 24 broadcast averaged 634,000 adults 25-54, and 2.86 million total viewers.
This Week leads CBS’ Face the Nation in A25-54 (675,000 vs. 644,000), leading the CBS Sunday show at this point of the season for the 2nd time in the last 3 seasons.
The Nov. 24 edition of Fox News Sunday hosted by Chris Wallace on Fox delivered 1.4 million total viewers and 410,000 demo viewers. The trio of cable replays delivered 2.12 million total viewers and 320,000 A25-54 viewers. Altogether, that’s roughly 3.52 million total and 730,000 A25-54 viewers on Nov. 24.
Compared with the same Sunday in 2018, NBC was -3% in total viewers, while CBS was -5%, ABC was -5% and Fox was +4%. Among adults 25-54, NBC was -14%, CBS was a whopping -20%, ABC was -6% while Fox News Sunday was +7%.
