Sunday Show Ratings: June 18

By A.J. Katz

On June 18th, there was a split decision between CBS and NBC in the Sunday public affairs program race.

Face the Nation with John Dickerson finished No. 1 in total viewers, growing +1 percent from the same week last year. Interestingly, the program was -22 percent in the news demo relative to last year.

Meet the Press with Chuck Todd remained No. 1 in the news demo this past Sunday, despite posting an -8 percent decline from last year. MTP was also -2 percent in total viewers from last year. Nevertheless, MTP remains the top Sunday show of the season to-date, and is also the only one to post year-over-year audience growth.

An additional 1.477 million total viewers and 273,000 A25-54 viewers watched MTP through rebroadcasts on MSNBC.

ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos remained No. 3 in total viewers, and No. 2 in the news demo this past Sunday. The program was steady from the comparable Sunday last year in total viewers, but was -2 percent in the demo. This Week continues to draw its largest total audience in 18 years – since the 1998-1999 season.

The June 18th edition of Fox News Sunday featured a rather unusual interview between host Chris Wallace and Pres. Trump’s personal lead attorney Jay Sekulow. The episode delivered +6 percent growth in total viewers and +11 percent growth in the news demo relative to the same week last year. The program was preempted in several markets due to coverage of the US Open golf tournament. The cable replay on FNC delivered 1.89 million total viewers and 505,000 A25-54. Altogether, the program drew 3.25 million total viewers and 957,000 A25-54 viewers.

Al Punto hosted by Jorge Ramos continues to outperform CBS and FOX’s Sunday shows this season to-date among adults 18-34.
