Sunday Show Ratings: August 31

sunday shows_304ABC’s “This Week” notched a win in both total viewers and the A25-54 demographic on August 31, besting NBC’s “Meet the Press,” guest hosted by Andrea Mitchell, by +394,000 viewers.” A half-hour “Face the Nation,” guest hosted by Major Garrett, with its second half-hour pre-empted by U.S. Open tennis, came in third. “Fox News Sunday” and Univision’s “Al Punto” were fourth and fifth, respectively.

Compared to the same week last year, “This Week” was the only show to increase in both total viewers and the demo, up +4% and +18%, respectively. “Meet the Press” was down -17% in viewers and -18% in the demo while the shortened “Face the Nation” was down -9% in viewers and -35% in the demo. “Fox News Sunday” was up +2% in viewers but down -18% in the demo. “Al Punto” was down -13% in viewers and up +4% in the demo.

Cable rebroadcasts of “Fox News Sunday” averaged a combined 1,944,000 total viewers and 311,000 A25-54 viewers.

“Face the Nation” is based on the first half-hour only, as the full contiguous hour aired in just 67% of the country.
