NBC’s Meet The Press with Chuck Todd was the No. 1 Sunday political show on August 20th across the key categories, including total viewers.
In addition to a victory in total viewers, Meet the Press has now won the key A25-54 demo on 8 consecutive Sundays, topping its competition by double digits.
Season to-date, Meet the Press is the No. 1 Sunday show across the board, delivering its largest audience growth compared to last season: +2 percent in total viewers and +7 percent in the key demo.
MTP was pre-empted on the comparable Sunday in 2016 due to NBC’s coverage of the Rio Olympics.
CBS’s Face the Nation moderated by John Dickerson finished No. 2 in total viewers and No. 3 in the key A25-54 demographic. The program posted +1 percent total viewer growth, and held steady in the demo versus the same Sunday in 2016 (Aug. 21).
ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos ranked No. 3 in total viewers, and No. 2 in the key demo. This past week’s episode was -7 percent in total viewers and -9 percent in the news demo from the same Sunday last year. This Week has defeated Face the Nation in A25-54 three straight weeks and 7 of the past 8.
Bill Hemmer filled in for Chris Wallace as anchor for the Aug. 20 edition of Fox News Sunday. The program was -10 percent in total viewers and -2 percent among adults 25-54 from the same Sunday in 2016.
Shannon Bream filled in for Wallace on that Sunday.
Combined with the trio of cable replays, the Aug. 20 edition of FNS posted a total of 3.77 million total viewers and 958,000 adults 25-54.
Al Punto hosted by Jorge Ramos posted year-over-year audience growth this past Sunday, both in total audience (+14 percent) and in the key A25-54 demo (+ 2 percent). Al Punto also delivered more adults 18-34 than Fox News Sunday.
