Six Months Later, Is A Fox/TWC Deal For The Fox Business Channel Still “Imminent?”

By Brian

Has there ever been a future network talked about more with less insight than the Fox Business Channel?

Six months ago today, the Wall Street Journal‘s Julia Angwin reported “exclusively” that Fox was in talks with Time Warner Cable and that a deal was “imminent.”

Of course, loyal readers know this was immediately dismissed by a TVNewser source who said there was nothing new in her story. “We’re surprised the Journal would print a such a non-story, let alone put it on the front page of the Marketplace section,” a Fox insider said.

The WSJ story claimed the channel was “slated to launch in the first half of 2006,” according to “a person close to the channel.” But how close to the channel could this person possibly have been? Angwin appears to have been led astray by her source, since there hasn’t been any word in the last six months on the long awaited channel. It leads an e-mailer to wonder: “How long is the statue of limitations on ‘imminent?'”
