Shepard Smith: “I Like the Circus”

By Alissa Krinsky

Shepard Smith talks with the Chicago Tribune‘s Phil Rosenthal:

> On O.J. Simpson coverage: “Look, it’s a circus. I like the circus. You can’t spend all your time at the circus, but right now is when the circus is in town. It just came… You know, the circus stinks. But there’s cotton candy, and you can’t normally have that. It’s craziness.”

> On the new set premiering today — for Studio B and The Fox Report: “When McDonald’s changes to two drive-through windows…they didn’t spend all that money to say, ‘Ooooh, weee! Look at this!’ They spent it so you can get the product better and quicker…We did this to better deliver the news of the day, no matter what it is.”

> And on whether he will eventually anchor a daily newscast on Fox stations nationwide, Rosenthal writes, “Smith said he’s ‘not dying to be on the (Fox) broadcast network’ and there is no plan to put him there.”
