“CBS News wanted us to know the anchor’s newscast last week came within 310,000 viewers of ABC’s and that, compared with the same week last year, he’s narrowed the gap with ABC by more than 1.6 million viewers and with NBC’s evening news by about 1 million viewers. Which left us wondering why his soon-to-be-replacement Katie Couric hadn’t put it into her contract that the CBS News PR Machine must cease and desist with the Schieffer boffo-numbers news releases.”
