Scarborough: Trump’s Response on David Duke, KKK ‘Disqualifying’

On MSNBC’s Morning Joe Monday, host Joe Scarborough described Donald Trump‘s response to a question about David Duke and the KKK as “breathtaking” and “disqualifying” for the Republican presidential frontrunner.

“You don’t know about the Ku Klux Klan? You don’t know about David Duke?” Scarborough argued the comments–which Trump later attempted to explain away by blaming a “faulty earpiece” that caused him not to hear the questions clearly–would not earn him votes in the South.

Scarborough, who has in recent weeks been subjected to criticism that he has been soft on Trump, and even may be actively supporting him or looking for a role in a Trump White House, said the Trump’s CNN interview with Jake Tapper exposed a stunning ignorance. “Is (Trump) really so stupid that he thinks Southerners aren’t offended by the Ku Klux Klan and David Duke? Is he really so ignorant?”
