Savannah Guthrie Announces She’s Pregnant, Will Skip Olympics Over Zika Concerns

NBC’s Savannah Guthrie announced she’s expecting a second child in December, revealing the news on Today Tuesday morning and getting hugs, kisses, and a round of applause from her team of co-hosts.

The pregnancy will keep Guthrie on the sidelines during NBC’s coverage of the Olympic games in Rio, over concerns about the Zika virus, which causes severe birth defects. “I’m not going to be able to go to Rio so you’ll have to go to beach volleyball without me,” Guthrie said. “I’m looking forward to the campaign season.”

In a personal essay, Guthrie writes she and her husband Mike Feldman “will pray every moment for a healthy, happy baby and feel so thankful to have this chance to add to our family.”
