Royals to Win World Series, According to The Weather Channel

By Brian Flood

GoodloeGame 7 of the World Series is tonight and if baseball fans want to know the outcome, they should probably tune in to The Weather Channel. Meteorologist Paul Goodloe is two-for-two predicting World Series games based on one key factor… wind.

Prior to Game 1, Goodloe mentioned the wind coming from the east at Kauffman Stadium, which would give right-handed hitters an advantage at the plate. He predicted both Giants OF Hunter Pence and Royals catcher Salvador Perez would hit home runs. They both did. He also correctly predicted a Giants’ victory.

Before Game 6, Goodloe predicted Royals 3B Mike Moustakas would homer to right field due to Northwest winds, which statistically favor left-hand players in Kauffman Stadium. He also highlighted Royals 1B Eric Hosmer as a potential key player in the game and said the Royals “should win.” Well, Moustakas hit a home run and Hosmer went 2-5 with two RBIs in the Royals’ 10-0 victory.

So what will happen tonight? Goodloe predicts the Kansas City Royals will take home the title. “With 8-10 mph Southeast winds tonight at Kauffman Stadium, it’s likely right-handed hitters will have the advantage. This statistic combined with [Tim] Hudson as pitcher for the Giants, leads me to believe the Royals will win the championship.”

Unfortunately for gamblers who watch The Weather Channel, Goodloe didn’t make a prediction on the other four games of the series. He only focuses on games that have the potential to be impacted by weather. Which makes sense, considering the channel he work for.
