Royal Wedding, Miami Car Chase Leads to Unfortunate Chyron on MSNBC

The cable news channels are still aflutter about the news that Prince William is engaged to be married to Kate Middleton. But what to do when there is also a car chase?

That was the situation shortly after 11 AM this morning.

Fox News covered the chase in Miami, CNN didn’t bother to cover it at all while MSNBC opted to show the chase in a splitscreen window, while anchor Chris Jansing spoke to a correspondent from London about the wedding.

That splitscreen coverage led to the eyebrow raising moment, pictured above. Asking whether Middleton is “The New Diana?” is a fair question, but placing it under live coverage of a car chase is an odd decision.

Diana died in a car crash in 1997, with some believing that the crash occurred while she  being chased by the paparazzi.
