Robyn Curnow Is Leaving CNN International

By A.J. Katz

After more than 20 years as a correspondent and anchor at CNN International, Robyn Curnow announced she is leaving the network.

“I’ve decided it’s time to change,” the anchor wrote on Instagram Tuesday. “This is my decision. I’m excited for the plans I’ve been cooking up recently.”

This is the second blow to CNNI in as many weeks, with London-based primetime host Hala Gorani having signed off from the network the week prior.

Based out of Atlanta, Curnow’s most recent role at CNNI was as anchor of CNN Newsroom on weekends. Her hours have recently been simulcast on both CNN/US and CNNI.

A native South African, Curnow joined CNN in 2001 as a London-based correspondent. She would later relocate to Johannesburg, becoming CNN’s correspondent in Africa, where she covered the HIV/AIDS epidemic, the World Cup, political scandals, Nelson Mandela (her conversation with Mandela on his 90th birthday was the last interview he gave) and Oscar Pistorius. In 2014, Curnow relocated from Johannesburg to Atlanta to anchor International Desk—and she has remained in the States ever since.
