Robin Roberts Continues Racking Up Awards

By Chris Ariens

Earlier this year ABC’s Robin Roberts was presented a Lifetime Achievement Award by the RTDNA.

This morning, the Good Morning America anchor added the NAB’s highest honor, the Distinguished Service Award, to her mantel.

In brief remarks, following a clip reel voiced by her ABC News colleague Martha Raddatz, Roberts recalled her time working her way up from local radio stations in her native Mississippi, to anchoring for ESPN, and, for the last 13 years as co-anchor of ABC’s morning show.

“This is all about being of service to others,” Roberts said to the room full of broadcasters at the opening of the 2018 NAB Show here in Las Vegas. “I’m so grateful to everyone, and incredibly privileged to have worked with the very best in the business.”

Roberts implored the broadcasting executives and media professionals in the room to look beyond the day-to-day political divide in the nation.

“Why not choose to see uncertainty as an opportunity for endless possibilities,” she said.
