Reporting on the Boy Scout Camp Tornado

One of the big stories of the day today is last night’s deadly tornado at a boy scout camp in Iowa. The news broke during prime time, with the cablers covering the story in different ways.

• CNN’s Chad Myers was first to report on the tornado hitting the scout camp, at 8:50pmET.

• FNC’s Hannity & Colmes was second, reporting the news at 9:21pmET.

• At 9:32pmET, MSNBC’s Milissa Rehberger reported the story during a scheduled news update.

Fox News stayed with the story throughout Hannity & Colmes, and had the first confirmation of the four fatalities. Alan Colmes, citing the Iowa Office of Emergency Management, reported the news at 9:50pmET. CNN’s Anderson Cooper Campbell Brown had the information at the start of AC360 at 10pmET; MSNBC waited to report the news at 10:31pmET during the re-air of Countdown.
