Rather Accepts Peabody For 60 Min II

Dan Rather accepted an award for “Abuse at Abu Ghraib” at Monday’s Peabody Award luncheon in NYC. Mary Mapes, who produced the award-winning 60 Minutes II segment, as well as the package that created Memogate and resulted in her firing, was also at the ceremony. Afterwards, Mapes told Broadcasting & Cable that she never believed CBS News investigated whether the disputed facts behind the National Guard story, were in fact true. “They made a corporate decision, not a journalistic one,” she said…

> Update: 10:39am: The Hollywood Reporter says Rather received extended applause after telling the crowd, “Never give up, never back up, never give in while pursuing the dream of integrity filled journalism that matters.”
