Randy Moss Accelerates His Path to Irrelevancy

By Noah Davis

During a rambling, five-minute press conference after Sunday afternoon’s loss to the New England Patriots, Randy Moss announced that he will no longer answer any questions from the media. Instead, he’s going to interview himself and tell reporters the answer. He’s going to get himself fined big numbers by the NFL for not talking.

It’s a strange stance from a strange player, but who really cares? If you look at his numbers – courtesy of Peter King at Si.com – you see Moss is becoming a non-factor.

Team G Target Rec. Yards Yds/Catch Long TD
New England 4 22 9 139 15.4 35 3
Minnesota 4 25 13 174 13.4 37 2

It’s only going to get worse for the speedster. Sidney Rice will return in the near future and Moss will find himself pushed further down the depth chart. The career of one of the NFL’s best receivers is quietly coming to a decidedly inglorious conclusion.

Then again, at least he didn’t ruin Halloween.

UPDATE: Well that happened quickly.
