For the first time in eight years, ABC’s World News has topped NBC Nightly News in total viewers for an entire quarter.
In the second quarter of 2007, Charles Gibson‘s newscast averaged 7,990,000 viewers, 450,000 ahead of second-place NBC.
In the first quarter, by contrast, NBC beat ABC by 116,000 viewers.
For the second quarter of 2007:
Total viewers: ABC: 7,990,000 / NBC: 7,540,000 / CBS: 6,130,000
25-54 demo: ABC: 2,440,000 / NBC: 2,310,000 / CBS: 1,940,000
