Q1 #’s: Countdown Up 54 Percent, Joe Up 36 Percent, Docs Up 52 Percent

In the first quarter of 2007, MSNBC was up 50 percent in total viewers and 39 percent in the 25-54 demo compared to the first quarter of 2006.

Countdown with Keith Olbermann was up 54 percent in the demo, from 164,000 demo viewers last year to 252,000 this year. Countdown was #2 for the quarter (far) behind Bill O’Reilly.

At 9pm (Scarborough Country, except on Friday, when it’s part of the doc block), MSNBC was up 36 percent in the demo, from 137,000 to 186,000.

The 10pm to midnight doc block was up 52 percent in the demo, from 123,000 last year (when Cosby and Carlson had shows) to 187,000 now (with taped programming).

One potentially worrisome trend though: Countdown and Scarborough recorded more growth in total viewers (up 76 percent and 48 percent respectively) than in the more ad-friendly 25-54 demo…
