Primetime Will “Fill Holes”

By Brian

TV Week reports: “ABC is replacing Thursday 10 p.m. newsmagazine ‘Primetime’ with new drama ‘Six Degrees’ from ‘Lost’ executive producer J.J. Abrams. ‘Primetime’ is not currently scheduled but will be used to “fill holes throughout the season,” Mr. McPherson said.”

> B&C: “As expected, veteran news magazine Prime Time Live is not on the schedule.”

> Update: 10:24am: An e-mailer weighs in: “ABC’s announcement regarding primetime is an incredible exercise in spin… NBC has two newsmagazine shows: Dateline Saturday and Dateline Sunday. Two shows, just like abc. Dateline Saturday is scheduled through the season. 20/20 is scheduled through the season, just like NBC. But Primetime is OFF THE AIR starting in September, with vague promises about specials. Yeah right. And Dateline Sunday is off the air starting this summer, but BACK ON THE SCHEDULE in January. If anything, the situation at ABC for newsmagazines is worse than at NBC, but their spin about reconfiguring Primetime is just spin spin spin to put the best face on a big blow to Primetime.”
