Post-Koppel Nightline Up In The Demo

By Brian

Ratings for the new Nightline are slightly higher than they were this time last year, according to ABC.

In the 25-54 demo: “For the week of Feb. 13, the show averaged a 1.6 rating, up 14% from the year before. The show had been averaging a 1.4 in the demo, but has been trending up for the past four weeks,” B&C reports. For the week of Jan. 30, the program’s demo rating rose to a 1.5, and for the last two weeks, it’s been steady at a 1.6.

Here are the last four weeks, in the 25-54 demo and total viewers, compared to their respective weeks in 2005:

DateP25-54Vs. ’05 P2+Vs. ’05
Week of 1/23 1,730,000 +6% 3,460,000 -5%
Week of 1/30 1,770,000 +9% 3,770,000 +5%
Week of 2/6 1,930,000 +7% 3,690,000 +1%
Week of 2/13 1,920,000 +14% 3,680,000 +3%

And here’s an interesting comparison: Nightline’s re-launch numbers are exactly even with Koppel’s numbers since the start of the season:

Koppel’s Nightline: 25-54: 1,740,000 / P2+: 3,510,000

New Nightline: 25-54: 1,740,000 / P2+: 3,510,000

Koppel’s Nightline: 9/19/05 to 11/25/05 … New Nightline: 11/28/05 to 2/17/06
