Politico’s Dylan Byers Joins CNN

By Chris Ariens

Dylan Byers is taking the media beat to CNN where he will focus on “the intersection of media and politics,” writes CNNMoney executive editor Lex Haris in a note to staff. The longtime Politico media reporter has been named senior reporter of media and politics for CNNMoney and CNN Politics.

“He’s fast, provocative — and makes news that people want to talk about,” writes Haris. Byers, who previously covered media for Adweek, joins the CNN media team that includes Brian Stelter, Tom Kludt and Frank Pallotta, Mark Mooney and Molly Shiels. Byers, who joins Monday, Sept. 14, will continue to work from Los Angeles.

Byers is the 13th Politico staffer to join CNN in the last year. The list includes Manu Raju, Rachel Smolkin, Steven Sloan, Tal Kopan, Gregg Birnbaum and Hilary Krieger.
