Pete Austin Named GMA Senior Broadcast Producer

By Brian Flood

ABC News veteran Pete Austin is joining Good Morning America as senior broadcast producer. The network also announced Chris Brouwer is moving to the GMA dayside production team. TVNewser has obtained the following note GMA senior ep Michael Corn sent to his staff:

I’m thrilled to announce that Pete Austin will be returning to GMA as Senior Broadcast Producer.  Pete will be a familiar face to many of you as he has been a part of the ABC News family for more than 20 years– most recently at Nightline. He has lent his incredible producing talent and dedication to a variety of projects across the news division-  including the crisis in Libya and devastating California wildfires, both of which earned him Emmy Awards for outstanding coverage.  Pete’s experience and expertise in the control room and beyond will be a tremendous asset for the show moving forward. We are lucky to have him join the best production team in the business.

I am also extremely pleased to announce that Senior Broadcast producer Chris Brouwer will be coming back to the light at the GMA dayside rim. She is a brilliant tv producer, story teller, journalist and the hardest worker I know. It’s the role I always wanted Chris to fill-and in fact as many of you know it is the job she thought she accepted when she first arrived.  Chris generously put that on hold for the good of the show when we needed someone to quickly step in as our producer in the control room. She has done a truly fantastic job getting us on the air every day. However sad I am to lose her at my side every morning- I’m equally excited to watch her make an immediate impact helping to guide this team to ever smarter and more creative coverage of the biggest stories of the day.

Please join me in congratulating Pete and Chris on their new roles.  I can’t say enough how proud I am to be a part of this remarkable team and how excited I am for what’s ahead.
