The senior executive producer of Fox News Channel’s O’Reilly Factor says Donald Trump did not get a heads-up about questions he would receive during an interview Monday night with Bill O’Reilly.
“We never, ever tell the guests what questions will be asked. Bill O’Reilly is the only person who knows what exactly he’ll ask,” said David Tabacoff in a statement released by the network. “We treated this interview like we treat all other guests on the program.”
In the interview, Trump was asked whether he paid female executives less than males. He responded “The answer is no. And I just had it checked because I heard this was going to be a question. I don’t know. I have a good source and somebody said this could be a question.”
That led some to question whether Trump’s “good source” could have been an O’Reilly producer:
Wait. Did Trump just let it slip that people at Fox News feed him the questions before interviews? (h/t @IChotiner) pic.twitter.com/RDK2MbK1Zb
