Daytime TV host turned cable network impresario Oprah Winfrey is planning to interview President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama for her final month on syndicated TV, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Winfrey will interview the Obamas in late April when they are in town for fundraisers, with the episode slated to air May 2.
The last episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” is scheduled for May 25, with commercials for the final week topping $1 million for 30 seconds.
Winfrey’s departure from daytime TV has meant that competitors are eyeing her primetime slots in many markets. CNN anchor Anderson Cooper launches his own daytime talk show this fall, with CBS anchor Katie Couric said to be considering a show of her own to launch in Fall, 2012.
