One Year Later, a Red Eye Reduction

By SteveK

The only original cable news programming airing weeknights after MidnightET, FNC’s Red Eye is an anomaly. Hosted by Greg Gutfeld and featuring an array of FNC personalities, outside journalists and comedians, the news/entertainment show features racy topics and subsequent off-color discussions and humor.

The show stands alone in the cable news field — but about a week past its one-year anniversary (February 5), the numbers seem to indicate a downturn in viewership.

Red Eye is down 15% in total viewers from last year, averaging 285,000 viewers. In the A25-54 demo, the program is down even more (24%), now averaging 123,000. The show moved from 2amET to 3amET in October, and, not surprisingly, the decline has steepened since the move.
