When ABC’s World News webcast premiered on Jan. 3, 2005, the network said it marked “the first time an evening newscast has produced a unique program for the Internet audience.”
One year later, ABC’s other evening news innovations — namely, a two-anchor traveling format and a Western Edition — are relics. But the webcast is still going strong. Over the past twelve months, it’s “been downloaded or played nearly 50 million times via iTunes and ABCNEWS.com — phenomenal growth for a new digital venture,” ABC says.
