On MSNBC’s Morning Joe, a Dose of ‘We Told You So’

On the morning after Super Tuesday, as some Republicans wake up wondering how Donald Trump has seemingly wrapped up the GOP nomination for President of the United States, co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski made a case that they saw it coming all along.

Offering “a look back at our analysis from day one, compared to everybody else,” the hosts aired a series of clips dating back to the days before Trump entered the race–showing that they urged journalists and political pundits to be very cautious about laughing off The Donald.

“A lot of people in media may scoff at it, see it as a PR stunt,” Scarborough said the morning after Trump declared his candidacy. “He’s got a lot of money. He doesn’t give a damn about what other people think… and then he’ll go to South Carolina and he’ll have a bigger crowd than any other established candidate.”

In June, Scarborough predicted Trump’s ability to use the debate stage to destroy his opponents, noting that Trump would be willing to say things about his challengers that are not typically said “in polite political society.” Scarborough said that willingness to mock and wound other candidates could profoundly affect the race. “All these people saying he’s going to have no impact? They don’t get it.”

Scarborough and Brzezinski have been criticized for their perceived closeness to Trump, something Scarborough has denied.
