No, Piers Morgan Is Not Hosting CNN’s Oscars Show

By Mark Joyella

Piers Morgan, whose CNN show “Piers Morgan Live” was canceled a year ago, was certainly surprised to hear he had an Academy Awards special airing on CNN tonight. Morgan tweeted Saturday “apparently I’m anchoring CNN’s Oscars coverage tomorrow” along with a hashtag “#BackFromTheDead.” Hang on, don’t slip into the Dolce and Gabbana tux just yet, Piers.

Screen Shot 2015-02-22 at 10.38.50 AMMorgan linked to a Los Angeles Times story breaking down coverage of tonight’s Academy Awards, which included “And the Winner Is…,” described as “a ‘Piers Morgan Live’ special with celebrity interviews and moments from the Oscars from inside Hollywood’s Roosevelt Hotel” airing on CNN at 9 p.m.

CNN does call its special “And the Winner Is,” but Morgan last hosted it a year ago. The network has turned its Academy Awards coverage over to Micaela Pereira and Don Lemon tonight.

The Times added a “for the record” update to its story that reads, “Piers Morgan Live” is no longer a program on CNN,” which is–for most–not new information.
