Networks to Carry Pres. Obama News Conference

The White House has announced Pres. Obama will hold a news conference at 11amET. Obama’s most recent news conference was July 15, during a week in which he had two press availabilities.

NBC News will provide a special report anchored by Brian Williams in Washington, DC. Williams is there for The Atlantic‘s Ideas Forum and was to interview VP Joe Biden. Instead, David Gregory will interview Biden. ABC News will produce a special report anchored by George Stephanopoulos in New York. And Bob Schieffer will anchor for CBS News from Washington, DC. Scott Pelley is returning from London this morning. He’d been reporting from Afghanistan earlier in the week and anchored CBS’s Steve Jobs special report from London at 12:46amBST/7:46pmEDT.

Second question to Chuck Todd of NBC News.
Third question to Jackie Calmes of The New York Times.
Fourth question to Jake Tapper of ABC News.
Fifth question from Hans Nichols of Bloomberg.
Sixth question to David Nakamura of The Washington Post.
Bill Plante from CBS News gets the seventh question.
Eighth question went to Matt Spetalnick of Reuters.
Ninth and final question (a 3-parter) went to Aamer Madhani of National Journal, who wasn’t expecting to be called on. “Caught you by surprise, huh?” said Obama.
