NBC News Hits All Platforms To Promote CNBC Obama Interview

By Alex Weprin

NBC News aired a special report shortly after 4 PM ET. The report was to note that the President was slated to meet with Congressional leaders this afternoon, and to highlight a clip from an interview with the President that was airing that moment on CNBC.

“I have bent over backwards to work with the Republican party,” Obama told CNBC’s John Harwood. “Am I exasperated? Absolutely I am exasperated, because this is entirely unnecessary.”

Brian Williams anchored the two-minute special report, which also featured a brief appearance by Kelly O’Donnell, who noted that this fight could spread to the battle over the debt ceiling. Williams ended by reminding viewers that the interview was on CNBC, and promised excerpts on “NBC Nightly News.” MSNBC also ran excerpts after it ended.
