Chuck Todd Prefers LeBron James over Michael Jordan

By Brian Flood

Meet the Press moderator Chuck Todd, who was recently the victim of a Donald Trump rant, showed fans exactly how passionate he is about sports during a Q&A with USA Today. The NBC News political director once co-founded SportsBusiness Daily and remains a huge fan of the Green Bay Packers and Miami Hurricanes. He discusses a variety of topics including the LeBron James vs. Michael Jordan debate, the controversy surrounding the Washington Redskins name and the best athlete among politicians. Here are some highlights:

On the most athletic politician:

Both Obama and Bush are pretty athletic in different ways. Obama is a serious hoops player, but I’d go with Marco Rubio. He’s got some serious foot speed.

On an athlete Todd can see in politics:

Peyton Manning has that politician side to him. He always says the right thing and never throws his teammates off the bus. And he’s so careful about his own politics that you don’t know what he is.

On LeBron vs. Jordan:

I’m a big LeBron guy. This guy has been marked for stardom since high school and has had more screens on him than anybody alive. He’s basically Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson in one. I don’t know if he’ll have as many championships, but he’s had more pressure on him throughout his career than MJ.

On Tiger Woods Winning another major:

I assume he’s too competitive not to. I have to say, I’m one of this fans. I watched the U.S. Open this year and even though Jordan Spieth is exciting, there’s just something missing without Phil and Tiger there.

Should the Redskins should change their name:

I don’t see why they don’t do it. This isn’t the first time they’ve faced questions about their racial agenda, and their past handling of things isn’t something to be proud of. It’s time to stop with this name. Why don’t they realize it?
