NBC News Brings Back ‘Plan Your Vote’ Tool Ahead of Midterm Elections

By Mark Mwachiro

In preparation for November’s 2022 midterm elections, NBC News is bringing back its interactive state-by-state voting tool Plan Your Vote. Its reemergence is due to primary contests season kicking into high gear, as the 2022 midterm landscape takes shape.

The tool provides a comprehensive, state-by-state guide of information voters need to know about the voting rules where they live and major changes since the 2020 elections, including registration deadlines, mail-in voting, early in-person voting and more.

Two years ago, NBC News released a PSA featuring NBC News and MSNBC talent, directing consumers to Plan Your Vote, which includes a rundown of rules for the selected location and election; a national map to compare rules across different states; a “next big deadline” reminder for each rules section; directions on how to vote in your primary; a rundown on any voting changes since 2020; and the ability to sign up for email updates as rules change in your state.

The tool was built by NBC News Data Graphic’s team and will rely on up-to-date, real-time information provided by the NBC News Decision Desk. NBC News is collaborating with its sister network Telemundo to bring Plan Your Vote in English and Spanish.
