The Press Club of Atlantic City has announced the winners of its 72nd annual National Headliner Awards. NBC received nine awards and CNN received eleven.
NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams (for “New Orleans in Turmoil”) and CNN’s Paula Zahn Now (for “Jet Blue Plane/Tornado/Hurricane Rita”) were named best newscasts.
The group included special awards for hurricane coverage. NBC Nightly News won two and CNN won one.
NBC Nightly News also received awards for investigative reporting, coverage of a major news event and continuing coverage of a major news event.
ABC’s received eight awards. Good Morning America received awards for coverage of a major news event and feature, sports or human interest story. 20/20 received awards for investigative reporting and news magazine program.
CNN received all three awards in the health reporting category. MSNBC received one for “Coming Home.” CBS, Fox News and CNBC received zero. (FNC didn’t submit any entries; no word on whether CBS or CNBC did.) A list of all the award winners is after the jump…
